Board of Christian Day School

The Board of Christian Day School shall consist of at least six (6) members, including the elected Director of the Board. The administrator of the program will be considered an advisory member. A non-member parent of a child enrolled in the program will also serve as an advisory member of the board.

The basic objective of this Board is to supervise the operation of a Christian Day School at Christ Lutheran Church. This school will educate children at age levels determined by the congregation. The purpose of the day school program (hereafter, program) at Christ Lutheran Church is to provide a Christian education in a warm, caring environment, for the young children of the congregation and community. The primary objective is to teach the children about the love of their Savior, Jesus Christ.

That the objectives of this Board may be carried out, the Board, either corporately or through specifically designated individuals, shall:

  1. Develop policies that will guide and direct the administrator in the daily management and operation of the program.

  2. Prepare and present to the congregation long and short-range goals for the program.

  3. Be responsible for calling or engaging the administrator, faculty and staff to ensure equality program, Lutheran distinctiveness, and the achievement of the program's stated purpose.

  4. Coordinate program activities with those of the congregation through monthly contact with the Board of Christian Education.

  5. Assist the administrator and staff in providing a program that meets state requirements and is in line with current trends and research in education.

  6. Work with, support and supervise the administrator who is responsible for the daily management of all aspects of the program.

  7. Conduct a yearly evaluation of the administrator.

  8. Prepare and annually review the job descriptions for the staff.

  9. Be responsible for the financial management of the program.

  10. Provide for the promotion of the program and help keep its focus related to its purpose and the Congregation’s mission.

  11. Carry out such other responsibilities and tasks as may be assigned to the Board by the congregation.

  12. Prepare and submit an annual budget request in the form and at the time requested by the Board of Stewardship.
